Who it is for
The Sessions are open to anyone who has access to Quarry House through the various Departments that are based there. We are sorry but we cannot currently admit people without building access for security reasons
What It is
Tech stuff. Things that matter (to us). Shiny shiny hardware. Or clever software. Want to talk about how to build REST API’s? Or fancy hacking on Arduino modules? Maybe a new way of getting more performance out of a MongoDB system, or that new interesting Linux distro. Reports from going to an AWS event, or TwitchCon.
Ideally, a talk or two on a topic with demonstrations, and networking and general socialising. There will also probably be pizza..
Everything is on the table, with one rule.
No work stuff.
It’s OK if you are talking about things inspired by the day job, but this is not for the day job. There’s security considerations for a start, and this is not meant to be about the day job. This is our space.
When is it
We hope, assuming enough people want to come, to run the sessions monthly. Day is flexible – it will be guided by what the community wants. We hope to run these starting at6pm and running through to 7:30pm or so.
Where are we
Quarry House. The exact room will be determined on the day, driven by needs and locations that are available.
Why?
The Leeds tech scene is good but we felt there was a hole, especially for a more wide ranging approach to tech things in general. A lot of the meetups have a quite narrow focus – broadening horizons seemed like a Good Thing to do…
